Spring is in the air and the fish are going crazy. Water temps have risen into the 70s, white bait is showing up in big numbers, and the fish are getting active.
Snook are making the biggest showing of late. Many 30-40″ snook have come to the boat in the past couple of weeks. Good tides and big white bait is the key to get these big girls to eat. Fishing the mouths of creeks, canals, and rivers have all been producing as these fish begin to come out from their winter homes. Small fronts that move in may slow the bite down for a day or two but will quickly rebound as the water temp comes back up.
Redfish are starting to show up and will continue to get more abundant as large schools start to show up. Once locating a group of fish, sardines and pinfish are the most successful baits. Chumming can also help to get the bite going. Trout are still here in big numbers and will stay around through the spring. Shrimp and whitebait have both been working to get some good table fare.
